The other half of the conversation

The "Can you hear me now" guy

Do you recognize the guy pictured at right? He’s been touting Verizon’s superior wireless network. But— did you notice something? All the commercials ever show us is this guy. Who’s on the other end of the phone?

Everybody needs a PS2

Dear Mr. President:

I represent a small consortium of voters who are deeply concerned over your proposed {or, if appropriate, ongoing} military action in Iraq. Given the amount of public speech and political rhetoric you have devoted to this issue in past months, it seems to us as though you are more interested in playing commando than in fighting an actual war with actual human casualties.

Enclosed with this letter, we have sent you some small gifts: one PlayStation 2 game console, one copy each of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs and Conflict: Desert Storm, a memory card and an extra controller for Mr. Cheney's use. We ask that you accept these gifts and use them, rather than the lives of Iraqi civilians and our U.S. servicemen, to fulfill any militaristic fantasies.

Respectfully,

Mikel Reparaz
Chairman
Buy Bush a PlayStation 2 Campaign

Here's my question-- why not include a PS/2 network adapter? Bush could hook up with Hussein (I hear he has a few PS2s already) and do some virtual combat. Of course, this won't do much to eliminate Saddam's Weapons Of Mass Destruction, but playing a good war game could help alleviate those warmongering desires. Or... it could stoke them, depending on who you ask. What do I know?

Nasdaq Threatens to Delist Nasdaq

Goin' down If the current trend continues, the Nasdaq (NDQ) will be forced to delist Nasdaq (NDQ). The Nasdaq has suffered terrible performance, especially during the last 4 quarters. Analysts agree that given the current attitude toward technology stocks by investors, the future does not look bright for the young index. The Dow Jones Index was quoted as saying: "I kept telling him-- 'Diversify!', but you just can't talk any sense into these young whippersnappers. They think they know everything."
