Wi-Fi stretches its boundaries

News: Wi-Fi stretches its boundaries. The range for 802.11b has been increased to 12 miles with an "ISP in a box" product from Proxim. Kits start at $2000. Wonder how long it will be until these are $100? Wonder how long traditional cellular providers have left-- voice-over-IP and long-range WiFi are a killer combination. All you need now is a portable 802.11b communicator (Google turned this one up.)

The distance between my home and office is less than 12 miles. Hmm...
