Yet another Outlook virus

MSNBC reports that a new e-mail virus called "Goner" is on the move. I know a handful of people here where I work have been affected by this. We're even using the Norton corporate anti-virus software which I think is running right on our Exchange server and it still allowed the virus to get in and to propagate.

If you're using Windows, here's how to avoid these things: don't open attachments of emails unless it's a zip file or something benign like a graphic. And beyond that, don't open any attachments from people you don't know. Take extra caution if an attachment arrives unexpected. Use anti-virus software and keep it up to date. Finally, consider using Outlook Express as it seems to be less prone to attacks than Outlook.
