More Excite@home coverage
Here is an interesting article regarding my current @home plight. Basically it points out that @home is losing money with their existing contracts with the cable companies and is now allowed to terminate those contracts. The article also reveals that @home is losing $6 million per week.
Now, their future may not look so bright, but at the same time, it makes me wonder... These guys have 4.1 million subscribers. HOW IN THE WORLD could they NOT be making money? The article says @home makes 35% of an average $46/month subscriber charge. With 4.1 million customers, that's over $66 million per month. At the same time, the cable companies collect the rest -- about $122.5 million per month. Altogether $188.6 million is being collected monthly for online service.
Now I just hope that these greedy morons (referring to all parties involved here: @home, Cox, Comcast, Charter, AT&T, etc.) will wise up and figure out how to slice this pie right so we, the customer writing those checks, won't be left out in the cold.
