Thanks, Ron

As plainly and sadly evident from my "Bike Blog" over there on the left, I've missed riding most of this summer. I had turned my friend Ron down twice and didn't think he'd let me get away with a 3rd rain-check, so I agreed to a ride today. It was a beautiful day for it! I still felt like I was mostly riding after Ron rather than riding with him. I managed to huff and puff my way across 7.5 miles.

At the end of the ride (at Huntington state park), there is one last hill you have to climb to get back to the parking lot. It's not a terribly difficult hill, but it is at the end of the ride so you're pretty beat by then. I've always made it up that hill without having to walk. It's a small achievement I guess, but it's more of a mental thing that I accomplish that last climb before I come home. As always, I was sorely tempted to stop half-way up and just walk the rest. In the end, I couldn't. I'm glad for that. Mind over matter at work!
