Media Player 8 for XP only? How awful.

Microsoft is going to tie Windows Media Player 8.0 to Windows XP. That means you can't run it on Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 or NT. So you'll have to stick with Winamp. Shucks.

I thought microsoft was supposed to be the champion of consumer choice? Didn't they cry long and hard for the right to innovate during their anti-trust trial? So is this how they innovate and give consumers choice? And since they plan to limit the encoding rate for MP3 media to a measly 56 kbps (!), who wants it anyway?
