One of Jim Carrey’s best. It tanked in the box office largely because it followed movies like Dumb and Dumber and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. People were expecting more of the same Carrey — a laugh-out-loud, silly comedy. What they got instead was a black comedy.

To me it was a refreshing change. And on it’s own merits, The Cable Guy is funny. So what if Carrey plays the bad guy in this one? He still steals the show away from Broderick.
