Strawberries

I made the mistake today of eating a pale strawberry shortly after brushing my teeth. It’s not recommended. The strawberries right now are not at their best, so I gave the small container to the kiddies, this time sprinkled with sugar. It’s amazing how little it takes for children to get hooked on something or expect a luxury again and again, or rather, “being spoiled.” So before I let them at the container, I gave them a speech about the sugar topping being special. Sugar is the legal drug of choice in the US, and children are the target group.

Needless to say, they DEVOURED the container of strawberries, lickety split. I heard Seth say to Savannah, “We didn’t save any for Arwen.” She’s getting her afternoon nap right now. He thought of her a little late, but isn’t it sweet that he thought of her at all? What will she think when he starts kindergarten? Who knows, by then she may be relieved to have me, and all the strawberries, to herself.
