His newest love

Even Lazytown and Blues Clues have taken a back seat lately. He has discovered puzzles. Actually, he’s discovered one puzzle. The big Noah’s Ark puzzle that Amie and Grandaddy got Savannah a few years ago stays spread out on the play room floor. Sometimes he wants me or Daddy to help him do it. Sometimes he wants Arwen to help him. (Although mostly she just walks on the puzzle because she knows it will upset him.) More often than not though, he does the puzzle all by himself. I’ve watched him, putting like pieces together until he finds the right spot or looking for small clues like the red and white stripes of Noah’s robe.

He’s getting faster and faster at finishing the puzzle. Even when I’m in the room with him, he still demands that I close my eyes while he counts, not to three like older children would, but slowly, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight…. He definitely says, “Surprise!” by the time he gets to eleventeen. Or he may just count to four. That’s the real surprise, how far he’ll count.
