Things he's doing

He takes the stairs on his feet instead of his knees, randomly tries new words, runs instead of walks, puts a bag or a blanket on his shoulder saying "bye" and waves as he heads for the door. He's still climbing, in and out of the hamper, up and down in his high chair but fights me almost every time I try to put him in his car seat. It makes me dread a busy errand day. He brings me books so that I can read to him. He loses interest, but he no longer tries to take them from me when I'm reading to Savannah. When I smell his messy diaper, I say, "Did you go poopies?" Then he reaches down and grabs his diaper. We're getting the potty seat down very soon to give it a try.

Bringing us baby news

He comes to us now to tell us things. He came into the kitchen several days ago, telling me something in grunts. Savannah and I could both tell he wanted me to follow him, walking away sideways with his hand opening and closing. I followed him and saw he was looking at the gate to the stairs which was wide open. He was saying, "Mama, you left the gate open!"

A few minutes ago, Seth grunted at me and pointed at the end table. I asked him what he wanted. Savannah got up from the couch because she thought he was demanding her seat. (She was offering it so easily because she was absorbed in her cartoon.) But he was telling me he'd found a bit of old popcorn. I had seen something white on the table, then I saw him chewing. He had asked permission and thought he'd gotten it.

Savannah did the same thing when she was little. She came out of her bedroom with her mouth open like, "Oh, my!" and stood there pointing into the room. I found that she had torn the giraffe's neck in her jungle pop up book.

Stitches

He fell into the television receiver Friday night. It only bled some but needed 5 stitches, right between his eyes. They swaddled him in a papoose. He was tired when we got to the ER at 7. So after the needle killed all the feeling in the wound, he actually fell asleep while they stitched him! Cleaning him up is what woke him. He didn't cry long neither after he got hurt nor for long after the stitching. He was off and running with his sister as soon as I put him down. The whole ER process took 1 hour. The stitches come out tomorrow morning. I may treat him to ice cream at the mall.

.....

He has been saying water for a few days, "wha" and "wha-wha" once tonight in a restaurant. Later, he tried to say Blue's Clues.

More words almost every day

Today with a book of animals he said "bear" rather drawn out without the R, but he meant it. Later, reading a book he said, "Booooo" referring to Blue, of Blue's Clues.

With yes he still only nods his head, but about 3 times today he answered my questions with "Nooo."

He not only says Dora, he's added "Maaa" (Map) to his list, so including Spongebob and Blue, that's four cartoon characters. Hmmmm.

New words

After he'd eaten I said, "Are you done?" He repeated the whole word, "Done."

Referring to a toy that we've been missing, "Where is that cow?" He said, "Moooo."

Upon seeing a cow in a commercial, "Mooooo."
