Real food he's eaten

Seth has had very softly baked sweet potato, baby lima beans, bits of brocolli florets, banana, white bread, white rice, Gerber meat sticks, (vanilla ice cream and popscicle only one time each) and he sucked on a cinnamon raisin bagel. He loved everything, especially anything he could feed himself!

Roaming around but still cuddly

Everything's up for grabs on the coffee table now. Pulling Daddy's computer books down. Now he's fiddling with the printer. It sits low, and he got up onto it the other night, pushing buttons.

He's always been cuddly, but lately when I'm holding him, he gets giggly and tucks his arms underneath him, sort of snuggling down.

So cute and so sad

There's so much more going on in their minds at 9 months than we assume. Tonight, Seth wanted to play with some adapters plugged into an outlet. Daddy sternly said no to him. He stopped playing with them. Instead he laid down with his arms tucked under him and cried like he was so wounded.

Marine crawl

I laid in the floor this evening. He crawled over me, deciding he liked this little achievement. He's been crawling over pillows and toys and such, but he must've decided crawling over a person was much more fun. He crawled back and forth 3 or 4 times (that is, over 6 or 8 times) happy in his play. His sister joined in, who is twice his size. I didn't last much longer.

Getting away

I've said before how playful Seth is. Changing his diaper is the usual struggle. The baby wants desparately to get away. The mother keeps turning him over onto his back and pulling on his legs, trying to keep his feet out of the dirty diaper. So he's fussing to get away, and I finally get his diaper on him. He got onto his belly once again, and I patted his bottom finally talking baby talk instead of fussing. He looked at me in his peripheral, laughed and wiggled happily, then headed for the door. Such playful acknowledgment. He saw that I was done and laughed either because I was letting him go or because he thought he was getting away.

Three months' time

He is 9 months old today. Now outside the womb as long as he was in. We will be throwing him a party in three months' time, and it's not fair.

Real baths

His last two real baths have been much happier lately. He didn't like the water in his face until I gave him toys to splash and kick around with. He sits tall in one spot, and I keep it short, or else it gets messy.

Happy in the buggy

I put him in the buggy (grocery basket to those outside the South) today at Costco. It's a doublewide, so he and Savannah were side by side. It was adorable. Big girl on the left, wittuw guy on the right. I'd tried it before, but he was unhappy. Today they played and it was cute. He pulled his sister's hair, and she more or less tolerated it. I made some effort to make him stop. He lost interest in that. He felt safe and quite happy bobbing his body back and forth in his little seat.
