Savannah's 2nd day camp, with Mama helping
I got to be helper at Savannah's Brownie minicamparee last Saturday. It was about 7 hours of Sherwood Forest fun, with crafts, games and songs. The older girl scouts, Cadets, I think they're called, produced the whole affair. It's really good to see the older girls helping the younger. You could tell they were used to it too, getting the Brownies' attention, directing them, and helping them along. It is interesting to think that Savannah may be doing that 10 years from now.
The medieval dragon game: in a chain of Brownies, the first Brownie holds the dragon puppet head and chases the last Brownie who holds a scarf for a tail. The game ends when the head catches the tail. Lots of squealing. That was my favorite.
Relay races: picking up "pouches of money" and dropping them back at the starting point. They called it stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.
There were others games, but Savannah says her favorite part was the first couple of hours when they made flower garlands, homemade soap, and drawstring pouches that when opened flat showed a tic tac toe game with blue and green pebbles.
