Easter

We had a fun little Easter egg hunt in the playground of our church yard. Some of the eggs were in plain sight because there were some 2 and 3 year olds. Then we had lunch with some friends and they had another Easter egg hunt. These eggs were hidden better because they had rocks and potted plants and such. Then for dinner we dyed eggs and Savannah and Seth took turns hiding them in the tv room so the other could find them. Arwen watched from my hip. I almost didn't do the egg dying at home, it being a long day and close to bed time. But this is the first year we've done an egg thing, sans the Easter bunny. I'm glad we did it. Anymore, the eggs are plastic with candy or a key chain inside, which is fine. When I grew up we used real eggs with a few plastic with candy or empty plastic eggs turned in for a money reward . More importantly, their Bible classes talked about Christ's resurrection and we talked about it with Savannah a couple of times. She hasn't asked what the eggs had to do with the resurrection.

Leprechaun

She got this idea from her kindergarten teacher. She wants to catch a leprechaun. So in the couple of days leading up to St. Patrick's day she talked about baiting a leprechaun. She made a chart, one side of the paper said "NO" at the top, the other side said "YES" with boxes underneath. She asked me if I had ever seen a real leprechaun. I had to go in the "NO" category. The woman who checks member cards at Costco said that, yes, she had seen one. Savannah sounded surprised and put her in the "YES" category.

So March 16th, she set a trap, paper on the kitchen loor, and on that paper she placed a green apple, a bottle of water, some green yarn, some of which she taped down, along with a picture she had drawn of a leprechaun, tall hat and elf ears. The next morning, the 17th, the water bottle was empty and everything was gone that hadn't been taped down!!

She wanted to keep at it, trying to place these traps all over the house. I told her St. Patrick's day had passed, and surely the leprechaun had gone back to Ireland.

Strawberry Shortcake bike!

She's been on her new bike (with training wheels) about 5 times today. She was on it this morning before school even started. It was not the princess bike she had asked for, but the store only had a small one with princesses on it. And her happiness replaced any disappointment. I reminded her that her backpack and helmet had princesses on them. That satisfied her. She is out on the patio now. I got photos of her on her new bike and Seffie on his red tricycle.

Gardening

Her first big planting project involved 70 gladiola bulbs and 15 lily bulbs. We found a sunny spot to dig a trench along the fence putting lilies in front and gladiolas in back. I left room in back for rose vines. She tried her best to dig up dirt, making a small dent in the work. I'm not entirely sure that I got them deep enough, but after we put 85 bulbs in the ground, I really hope for both of us that they come up.
