A ship in the night?

Savannah told me yesterday, as she has before, that she wants to marry a boy in her Sunday school class. This time, I asked her if she has told him yet. She said yes, but he's in love with a girl in his school. "And what if he moves to Africa and forgets about me?"

Fashion sense

It's starting already. She's 5. I thought it would take longer. But there's a lot in her closet that I bought last season that she won't wear. Blue jeans aren't soft enough. The snug, stretch-knit leggings are "too tight," and she just doesn't like overalls. The overalls I can still talk her into.

It's dresses she really likes which makes me happy. Most girls stop wanting to look like girls around 9 and don't want to look like girls again until at least 18. Sad.

So I told her she could pick out some of her clothes this coming Spring, with my approval of course. I will pick out the remaineder alone simply because I think shopping together will be time consuming. She will have to learn slowly that she can't have everything she likes, so shopping will be a lesson for her. Some glitter but no "Girl Power" stuff.

Her 1st trip to Disneyland

Yes, her first trip to Disneyland will be memorable: the princess shop, fireworks, Tarzan, Dumbo, "Twinkerbell." Two full days, it was a lot for a 5 year old. It's a lot for a 29 year old. But she weathered it well. It rained on us the first few hours and cleared after lunch. She handled the rain really well, being wet and chilly. Fortunately I had extra pants for her. We bought Mickey socks because our feet were soaked. I will have her write a blog with me later, so she can highlight her favorite parts of the park herself.

Another stomach bug.

Savannah already had a stomach bug a month ago. She's missed 4 days of school this week. She has thrown up off and on since Monday night. She got better twice, then got sick again. I've lost track of how many bed clothes I've washed lately. So I took her to the doctor today. I was getting worried 'cause I've never seen stomach bugs take this long. The doctor believed she started with a stomach bug, but she keeps getting sick from eating the wrong things and getting stomach irritation. So it's crackers, toast, and white grape juice for a little while.
