There's something about the snow

I hesitate to write about her disobedience, I think because I don't want to remember it when I'm old nor for her to dwell on it when she reads this years from now.

But there's something about playing in the snow. She's not wearing ear muffs. But she does not come when she's called. Today, one time, was an exception. I told her before preschool that I would let her play in the snow when I came to pick her up, but she had to come when I called or she wouldn't get to play in the snow after school on Friday. She came when I called. But when we got home, trying to get her into the house, she had another problem listening.

It has gotten better. I used to have to go after her, take her by the hand, and really pull her to come along. I'd have Seth on my hip, baby in my belly getting bigger and she would start pulling on my arm to get back to the snow. It's infuriating. I have no tolerance for that nor for not coming when called.

Actually I'm scared. If I don't nip this in the bud, she'll be running the show at 14, and after hearing mother's of older children, that just cannot happen.

Don't worry. Savannah is just being a normal kid. She's testing you and her independence. It's very normal. She's a very good girl and well behaved. I wouldn't even worry about her ever "running the show". Trust me on this: she's having a natural, normal reaction to wanting to have fun and not stop. She really is a wonderful little girl.
