Blues Big Musical

It's one of her movies. There's a cute song on it. When I sing, "Hey, hey, " ouit of the blue, she's compeled to sing the rest, "Shoo-ba-dee-ay, Beep-bap-bay, Hey, hey. I can't say where it comes from, but when you sing, sing, Jab-u-wee."

I don't know where she gets, "Jab-u-wee." Steve actually sings, "There it is."

A little phonics

I just started Savannah on some new chewable vitamins form the health food store. She really liked them, cherry flavored. At bedtime she asked for another "bitamin." I said, "You mean vvvvvvvitamin."

She responded, "Vitamin, with a V."

I got so excited that she'd figured that out, I could tell she new it was something good and was proud of herself.

Hungry little brother

When I can't see Seth, usually in the car, I might ask Savannah what Seth is doing. Today I couldn't see him from the kitchen sink, so I asked her what he was doing, and she said, "He's eatin' his hands.

A good girl

Savannah's been "talking back." When I'm correcting or explaining something to her, she occassionally makes a random combination of sounds like, "blah, blah, blah, blah."

We really don't like this. Nor do we like it when she puckers up and grunts, pushing her head and torso in our direction. She gets in trouble for it.

But last night, after a day of explaining and depriving...., she went with me to her bedroom to clean up. I thougt I'd have to do most of it which is hard while I'm nursing Seth. But she took directions very well, enjoying putting things away and having some preferences as to where things went.

I told Brad later that it gives me hope for her future. She's a good girl.

Wood

Savannah asked about wood yesterday. I said wood comes from trees. She said wood also comes from houses.

Papa Ronnie

She had no idea where she was, but last Wednesday, Savannah went to her first funeral. I felt strange having a child there, but my sister in law, who would've kept Savannah, was keeping another child that day and Savannah had a cold (and a fever two nights earlier.) We didn't want to risk the other child catching it. She got a little restless toward the end.

My stepfather died the previous Saturday. His health had gone down over the last two years. He was very fond of Savannah. The one occassion that she spent the most time with Papa Ronnie and Granny Ruth was when she was 18 months old. Ronnie liked Clifford the Big Red Dog and Dragon Tales I think. They played together, and she sat out on the mudroom steps with Mom where she sits to think. So he last saw her during a really cute and sweet stage.

Smile or shudder

I didn't know whether to smile or shudder when Savannah said, "Way cool!"
