She's beginning to show off a little, and it's usually some little acrobatic maneuver. She also wants to put her videos in the vcr. All of these independent things she connects to being three. If we think she's too young, her defense is, "No, I big girl. I free! (three!)."
Daddy has played gimme 5 with Savannah for a long time. About three months ago, instead of saying gimme 10, he'd say 2 5's. She's not multiplying yet, but the concept has been introduced.
Now, when she wants to sing songs or hear a "Once upon a time" story, she wants "2 5's songs" and 2 5's stories"!
We waited to give Savannah her big birthday present several days after her party. It shortened the party, and there was no competition over the present. Some friends sold us the battery operated Jeep, the kind she can ride in, their sons had outgrown. (The sun, appropriately, faded it from red to a shade of dark pink.)
She absolutely loves it, squealing, as she drives in circles in the backyard. I stay out of the way. She goes until something stops her. Then she reverses it. Steering will take a while longer. She still gets out to try and manually move it over. She can too.
She turns on the radio, and I sing to provide the music. The walkie talkie she thinks is a telephone, using it to ask Morgan's mom if she can come over to play.
Savannah had her 3rd birthday party last Saturday. It will surely be the first one she remembers. She helped me pick up supplies and the cake and talked about it for a week or so. She wanted the part of the cake that had the rainbow on it.
We did a small ladybug theme. Her two, two year old girlfriends came as well as some older people who are friends with her.
We played a little game, a variation on musical chairs so all the girls could have presents while Savannah opened her birthday gifts.
The next day she wanted her party to continue, for her friends to come over and play in the sprinkler since they didn't get to at the party :( She put on a ladybug party hat and said she wanted cake and ice cream. We still work on it a little every day :)
