Actually

Upon leaving Costco (the wholesale store) the lady checked our receipt, and Savannah showed her some small toys she carries in a plastic gift bag. The woman commented on Savannah having her own "bag." Savannah agreed and said, although I doubt the woman understood her because I almost missed it myself, "Actually my purse."

Taking me literally

After a particularly long nap this afternoon, I woke Savannah up so she wouldn't stay up til 11 o'clock. We acknowledged each other, and she raised up and kissed my arm. I said, "Where did that come from?"

Taking me literally, she said, "My mouth." Kissing sound.

Funny words

"Funder" (thunder) scares Savannah.

When I'm upset at something Savannah has done, she says, "Soddy, (sorry) Mama." If I'm really upset, she says, "I iddy (really) soddy, Mama."

New reasons

For a while, when I asked Savannah How come? or Why? usually if she wanted something or was doing something silly, she'd just say, "Cause, I might cie (cry)." She's added some reasons. When I asked her why she was rubbing the chairs down with her wash cloth, "I nee (need) keep it kean (clean)." I asked her why I should "Come here." She said, "Cause I nee you."

Hiding from trouble

Savannah ran into the tv room tonight after Brad got home, saying something we couldn't understand. So I told her several times to show me. She started to take me into the mud room, but decided instead to try to hide behind the television. I made her come with me and found some yellow paint spilled in the floor. It had been the door stop, and I believe she shut the door on it. I was a little upset about the floor but more upset with her (although slightly amused) that she hid from it and me.

However, I've never liked that cold, hard, slate floor, so I'm taking this opportunity to price some Pergo :)

Savannah's day

To take care of the rest of last year's leaves, Savannah used the blue rake, and I used the red rake. We didn't get to finish because Savannah kept saying, "Come on, Mama. Come on." We were out cleaning at least an hour, and she'd had enough.

We made a play date for Wednesday afternoon, plus the playdate we always try to keep with Shelley and Morgan Wednesday mornings. Then we'll have Bible study. It will be a busy day, hopefully no one's sick and there are no accidents.

I had a good day, but Savannah was still puny from her stomach virus two days ago. She didn't eat a lot today, and wanted to go home during our second errand. I hope she's bounced back tomorrow because we have ladies' class in the morning.

Another bug

It's a shame Savannah rarely sits still in my lap, until she feels bad.

High fever

Savannah slept in the bed with us last night for the first time in I can't remember when. She had a temperature of about 103. (I used an armpit reading which actually said 102.6.) This was at about 4:30 am. Two doses of infant's Tylenol hadn't brought it down. It was time for another, so I used the Children's Advil. We woke up again in time for Brad to go to work, and her fever was gone.

The high heat wasn't all that worried me. She also talked about things in the room that weren't there. It was scary and very sad for us to know she was sick, but for the most part, she handled it very well, wanting to color at midnight.

She did well today. We stayed at home and played and cleaned together. She went to bed with her temp at 100.? but was acting fine.

Carpet

I haven't corrected her because it's cute. Savannah calls the tablecloth, "carpet."
