A kiddie trip to NYC
I found this entry today, among others, in my unpublished drafts. Little forgotten jewels. The original date of writing was June 3, 2003. Savannah was 2 months shy of her 4th birthday.
Labor day, Savannah's 2nd trip to the City. New York City empties out on those holidays. Except for the rain, it was a great day to go. We had the sidewalk to ourselves. She wouldn't take her umbrella. She loves her umbrella. I think she was simply in awe of her surroundings, and the umbrella was like a blindfold.
It's the most walking and sight seeing I'd done since Seth was born last September. It truly helped that Brad carried him some in the Baby Bjorn.
We told her we were going to NYC by train. We reminded her of a trip we took a year ago last December with her adoptive grandparents Papa Danny and Granny Linda. She didn't remember it though.
At least 15 minutes into the train ride she whispered in Daddy's ear, "This is a cool train." It's cute that she whispered it. She's becoming aware of public versus private situations. Now, when she's loud in more quiet public places, it's for attention.
We did not tell her where in the City we were going. When we rolled her stroller into F.A.O. Schwarz, her eyes bugged out. We let her run around some and play. Bought a cool ocean puzzle, and a man made us complimentary boomerang planes. Then we ate in a diner. The name escapes me, but the burgers were good.
